Butler & Gee Accountants are delighted to sponsor the 2013 TBAs and to help recognise the success stories of our local business economy. As Accountants and Tax advisors to many Teesdale small and medium sized businesses, we are right at the forefront of local business and appreciate and acknowledge first hand what is required to make your business work, succeed and be sustainable. The awards are a perfect opportunity to raise a glass for all the hard work and efforts of those who are striving to achieve high standards with their business and deliver top class products and services that promote Teesdale both locally and further afield.

We are especially pleased to be co-sponsoring the ‘Young Entrepreneur’ award along with last year’s deserved recipient, Teesdale Architectural Stone Ltd. Although no longer now qualifying, Butler & Gee Directors Chris Butler & Darren Gee were once ‘Young Entrepreneurs’ having started our accountancy practice back in 1996 when we were just 23 years old. We know from personal experience and also that of our clients’ just how hard it can be to set up and establish a business, perhaps more so in the current challenging economic climate. To do this as a young person, get it right and achieve success that can be developed further in the future is even more satisfying and that is why we are proud to be supporting this particular award and acknowledge the nominees.

This is fantastic news and we are going to mark this special occasion by manning the pavement to cheer on the torchbearers and make sure we are all waving our flags.

On Saturday June 16th our Shotley Bridge office near Consett is to be central to the celebrations taking place in the village there and there will be plenty of bunting, decorations, a treasure trail and lots of local schoolchildren waving flags and wearing their medals!

Let's hope the Flame is still alight by the time it gets up north! Barnard Castle sees the fun take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 20th June and there is talk of some Olympic themed fancy dress and office based Olympic events!

Thanks to all our clients and friends who have supported our annual charity ball nights – over the last three years we have raised over £22000 for Cancer Research UK and we hope to add to that with our next ball on November 12th 2011.

In August the Barnard Castle office closed for the day for the Bosses and Staff to ‘teambuild’ at Carlisle Races. With no prior knowledge of our four legged friends and with no tip offs received, our group was left to apply accounting and statistical analysis before bets were placed! Inevitably this application came to nothing and we decided to simply enjoy the day, have a bit of fizz and then singalong to Ronan Keating who played a live gig after the racing.
