Following on from our sponsorship of the Young Entrepreneur category at the 2013 TBA’s, we were delighted to attend the ceremony and for Chris to present the winner with their award. Adam Bainbridge of Teesdale Renewables Ltd was the very deserving recipient having successfully been at the forefront of supplying and installing Biomass Boiler technology in the area. The evening was a triumph and a great chance to recognise and celebrate those Teesdale businesses that have enjoyed success.

In November 2013 Butler & Gee held their annual charity ball at the Morritt Arms Hotel near Barnard Castle. The theme this year was ‘Venetian Masked Ball’ and it was splendid to see most of our guests get into the vibe of the night by wearing quite a variety of masks. It was another fabulous evening with guests agreeing with ourselves that it was one of our best nights yet. The evening started in a very classy manner with the ARCO string quartet entertaining our guests while we were seated for our 3 course dinner. The auction followed soon after and this again turned out to be the serious business end of the evening becoming our largest fundraiser for the event. This year our guests had the chance to bid for some fabulous auction lots and there was some generously keen bidding on the floor expertly managed by our Auctioneer Simon Nixon of Addison’s Chartered Surveyors. With business over the night was then given up to dancing to top local band Funk Conspiracy and Andrew Nicholson’s disco. A terrific evening enjoyed by all and a big thank you to all our guests, auction lot and tombola donors as well as sponsors Barclays Bank and Business Barclaycard and of course all the team at The Morritt Arms.

Our November 2012 Charity Ball was again a huge success and enjoyed by all our very generous guests. The evening had a Las Vegas theme and after a 4 course dinner our guests had the chance to spin the roulette wheel in our novelty casino and then dance the night away in the disco. The charity auction and raffle helped to raise a fabulous £7652 on the evening for the charity. This means that the successive annual events have now raised a staggering total of over £40000 for this very worthwhile cause. We are very proud of this achievement and thank all our friends and guests for helping to make such a big contribution to the charity. This years Charity Ball is on Saturday 9th November at the Morritt Arms Hotel and as ever we are looking forward to having similar fun all over again!

This year the village of Shotley Bridge will come together again to present their 5th annual Victorian Event just before Christmas. Local businesses, churches and community organisations all get involved in the hope that the event will launch Christmas for everyone. Each year the offices of Butler and Gee Accountants are turned into a mini art gallery with various artists displaying and talking about their works. In the past there have been art displays from watercolours to wood turning and quilt making.

If you are a local artist and would like to join in with the festivities please call Pauline at our Shotley Bridge office. During the event there are various smaller interests to raise money for the local Willowburn Hospice. These include the lighting of the village Christmas tree, horse and carriage rides, raffles and local singers performing in Victorian dress on the village streets. There are also events all afternoon in the Methodist church hall, including local school choirs, drama groups and individual performances and prizes for the best dressed Victorian children. This year there will be craft stalls in The Crown and Crossed Swords public house, a jewellery workshop by Moon Jewellery for children in the Estate Agents and flower arranging demonstrations.

The event will be held this year from 10am – 5.30pm on Saturday 30th November.
