Our third annual Charity Ball in aid of Cancer Research takes place on Saturday November 13th at the Morritt Arms Hotel near Barnard Castle. Tickets are now virtually sold out and once again it looks like the evening will be another huge success. Thanks to the generosity and kindness of our clients and friends we have during the last 2 events raised a total of over £13000 for the charity and just as importantly had a couple of fantastic evenings into the bargain. We are all looking forward to this year’s event where we will again hold a charity auction and tombola and then dance the night away to top North East band The Funk Conspiracy.

On a lovely sunny evening in September, Chris and Darren fulfilled a long standing appointment to act as ‘slaves’ to the highest bidder! During the 2009 Butler & Gee Charity Ball, Chris and Darren were ‘auctioned off’ as slaves to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Simon and Pam Rossinelli were the highest bidders and the slave debt was subsequently discharged by way of a marathon car washing and polishing session.

Simon and Pam had arranged for their family, friends and neighbours all to benefit as a queue started to form outside the Rossinelli household. There were plenty of happy customers and despite the workers complaining of ‘Polishers Elbow and Spongers Cramp’ a good night was had by all.

Sincere and special thanks to Simon and Pam for been so generous with their bid and also that they didn’t give Chris & Darren a really bad job as threatened! – We really thought that we would need our drain rods!!!!

Our annual staff outing to the races took us to Ladies Day at York this year as part of the famous Ebor meeting. Once again everyone was decked out in their finery and fascinators (?) for the big event which was bathed in fabulous sunshine and blue skies for most of the day. With no obvious horse racing experts we once again pinned tails on donkeys, however, Ian had done a little bit of pre event homework and was soon in the money having aligned himself to jockey Keiron Fallon for the afternoon. Others were not so financially fortunate though that did not reduce the fun had by all and after a hot day at the racetrack we then finished the night off by heading for a hot curry in York.

Lisa, Joanne and Katie are in training for the 5 kilometre 'Race for Life' in aid of Cancer Research UK. It takes place in Sunderland on May 23rd and the girls are hoping to run the full course as opposed to a steady walk. If the organisers have put a pub by the finishing line then the girls should each set record times! Good Luck to each of them and if you would like to donate to this fantastic cause then contact Lisa at the office.
